Number Day is a fun opportunity to raise money for NSPCC programmes which help children and young people across the UK to feel safer and more supported in challenging times. On number day, children bring a small donation to school to wear an item of clothing with a number on it, and the NSPCC provides number-based activities and games for children to enjoy during the day. This helps to make learning numbers fun, as well as fundraising to support the important work of the NSPCC such as their Childline service and the Speak out, Stay safe programme.
Childline is a free service for children and young people under the age of 19, providing 1:1 support from trained counsellors and volunteers over the phone or through online chat services using their website. This service operates 24/7, and is a safe space for children and young people to talk to someone about anything they are going through, from bullying and mental health to struggles at home. Childline can help children and young people to feel like they are not alone with their problems and encourages them to see things from a new perspective. Childline is available by calling 0800 1111 at any time.
The 1-2-1 chat service can be accessed by setting up a confidential account using the following link: https://www.childline.org.uk/
Speak out, Stay safe is a free programme of assemblies and workshops delivered in primary schools across the UK by the NSPCC. The programme aims to teach children about bullying and abuse in a child-friendly way, providing them with the knowledge and tools to reach out for support if they are ever worried about something happening to them or to others. This programme is a way of empowering children and young people to look after themselves and to ask for help when they need it.
